Overview
The school project about the application of plastic surgery that applies with augmented reality technology, the patients can use the app to scan the face to simulate the facial feature after the surgery with an AR technology as well as the patients can use the app to make an appointment with the doctor.
Our target users are middle-aged women who have a certain degree of income to effort for surgery, this target user considers surgery as the way to develop their self-confidence. The second group of target users is the doctor who does surgery for the patients, this target user wants to provide the best expertise as much as they can to the patient if the patients are happy the doctors are happy too so. The doctor will use the app to take care of the patients no matter providing recommendations on facial adjustment, managing the appointment and communicating with an in-app chatbox.
Problem

I have done the research and brainstorm with my group and we finalize that the medical issue of plastic surgery is the one that can be solved with augmented reality effectively.

I have survey on the online community and social media, there are several cases that patients are dissatisfied with the result after surgery due to miscommunication with the doctor or facial simulation after surgery can't come as patients expected, so we come up with this app that has a feature of scanning the face of the patient accurately with AR technology. We believe the app does not only help the patient to have surgery more conveniently, but also better effective communication between patient and doctor and improve the quality standard of the plastic surgery industry by applying the technology of augmented reality.

The facial surgery application incorporates with high accuracy of AR technology in scanning the facial features of the patients for better surgery result
Competitve analysis
The competition in plastic surgery software is not that intense because it is a very high cost of developing as it involves with a high-class technology that we need a specialist no matter from engineering, computer science, and medical specialist which are difficult to find. All of the mentioned reasons make the technology less affordable.
We have found 2 companies that can be our competitors.
1) Crisalix
The Swiss technological company specializes in 3D simulation with AR technology for cosmetic surgery. The company has networks of doctors and partnerships around the world. Crisalix has a similar technology with us that the patient scans the face or body and send it to the doctor
2) Canfield
The American technological company specializes in medical imaging system equipment for medical surgery and research. We find that this company is not only selling medical equipment but also a medical software "mirror" that simulates the result after surgery of the patient photo but it does not work with AR technology and the software is only available for the hospital.
So in our point of view, we think that Crisalix is the No.1 competitor because they have a similar technology with us. However, we recognize that their app doesn't support for administrative tasks. First, they don't have an appointment system within the app so it may not be convenient in terms of communication between patients and doctors. Second, Crisalix app doesn't do about the appointment system so these can be our point to compete with them. In addition, we have looked into their network with the doctor, it seems they have a connection with the doctor a lot in Western Europe, some major cities in USA and Canada, and a few in Eastern Europe and Asia.

Research
We use secondary research in designing this project, here are what we did.

We discussed together about the use of AR technology in different field such as fashion, housing, and healthcare. Everyone searched information online and shared the ideas then we finally voted for the use of AR technology in healthcare industry

After the vote, everyone shared the ideas about any problems in healthcare that can be solved with AR no matter doctor's misdiagnosis, the difficulty in explaining the disease symtomp, lack of accessibility of healthcare in a rural area, the cosmetic surgery that didn't come as a patient expect. Finally, everyone voted for the cosmetic surgery issue because it's the problem that anyone can relate to.

Why Augmented Reality
It's a technology that involves an interaction between the real-world environment and mobile devices via camera or sensor. AR main function is about creating simulation by using the real-world environment which is used in many field such as in fashion that simulate the dress for people who is choosing the clothes, housing that simulate the ideal house decoration how the house will be look like. AR also being used a in the healthcare industry such as studying a body anatomy, projecting a map of the vein, and surgical visualization. We believe that the accuracy of AR can enhance the quality of plastic surgery and get the better surgery result for the patient.
